Kathy Phone As a potential member of Mountain State Wellness, we want to familiarize you with the process of accepting you as a member in our practice.  Once you decide to be evaluated by the doctor, you simply need to call Kathy or Stacy and allow our team to assist you in scheduling an appointment.  They will request some basic information and explain the process of establishing you as a new member.

Typically, the first visit to Mountain State Wellness is in two parts...one part in the morning and one part in the afternoon.  During the morning visit, you will be asked to complete some short forms about you, your current health status and any previous health issues you have experienced. Then, Stacy will gladly show you around our office, highlighting several important features, so you can feel comfortable when you are here. When your tour is finished, Stacy will discuss the financial aspects of your care. Once you understand and agree to the terms of our care, you will then begin your visit with the doctor.

Welcome Greeting
Dr. Lucas

During the morning visit, the doctor will review your health history, perform a spinal examination which includes surface electromyography (sEMG), posture analysis, spinal palpation and range of motion, and a series of pre-adjustment 3-dimensional x-rays of your cervical spine. Once the doctor has collected all of the information that is needed to care for you, Kathy will give you some educational items and remind you of your afternoon appointment. At this time, you are finished with your morning visit and we hope you are greatly anticipating your afternoon appointment.

Upon returning to our office to experience your first upper cervical spinal correction, you may be asked to remain in the reception area until the doctor is ready.  If you are fortunate enough to be seated in the reception area, we highly encourage you to read some of our "Patient Stories" located in the binder.  We are confident that you will find these testimonies to be very encouraging and maybe some day you will share your success story with other members of our practice.  During the afternoon visit, the doctor will report to you what he/she has discovered with your history, exam, and x-rays and discuss with you the expectations of your care.  Next, the doctor will perform your first upper cervical spinal correction.  During the spinal correction, you will be positioned on your side with your head supported in a very specific fashion.  The doctor will use their hands to apply a light pressure to the upper area of your neck.  Dr. Amy
Dr. Amy Do not worry...it is a very gentle process!Upper cervical care does not involve any jerking, twisting, snapping or popping of your head, neck or spine.  In fact, many people describe the process as very relaxing and some people fall asleep during the adjustment.  Once the doctor has determined that a favorable correction has been performed, the doctor will then perform a series of post-adjustment x-rays to verify proper alignment.  While the doctor is evaluating your post-adjustment x-rays, you will be asked to rest in the "Restoration Room".  We encourage patients to rest after the spinal correction because it helps the body to adapt to the changes and allows you to begin the recovery process.

When the doctor has determined that he/she has accomplished the best spinal correction possible, Kathy will schedule a one week check-up to monitor your improvements. Please remember that your recovery may take some time but the best way to ensure a quick and complete recovery is to follow the doctor's recommendations and maintain patience and a positive attitude!

We are very excited to care for you and your family and we know that when you experience the difference of upper cervical care, you will want to share this amazing type of healthcare with all your family and friends!
